Technotopia: Virtual Book Reader

Looking For A Good Book?
We aren't related to Project Gutenberg (sometimes spelled incorrectly as Gutenburg), but due to their ongoing efforts we are able to bring you some of the books they have made available in electronic format. Please consider making a donation to Project Gutenberg if you find that you have enjoyed reading any of the books we make available through our online reader.

Project Gutenberg has much more material than we present here. We are working to incorporate their more popular written works into our library of available material. As you might imagine, it does take. some time and effort to make the raw text display in a paged format.

Standing On The Shoulders of Giants
While you might find resources such as this handy and valuable, we must admit that we are merely standing on the shoulders of those that have come before us. It takes a lot of work to track down and certify that work is in the public domain and even more work to craft original public domain materials.

Our plans are to start with a decent chunk of material from the Gutenberg Project and then branch out from there. For more details about where we will be going visit the about us page.

Project Contributions
There is no formal funding at this time. We have incorporated a small amount of advertising into our reader Basically, it is outside of the written text so it won't interfere with your online book reading experience. You'll also see other examples of advertising on the pages of our web site. We're hoping that our basic hosting and bandwidth costs will be recovered in this way.

Of course, if your company would like to sponsor a classic work for some period of time, that certainly could be arranged. Alternately, a more substantial contribution might be to purchase the rights to a written work still covered by copyright and release it to the public domain. In particular, educational texts in the K-12 spectrum would be spectacular.

As an individual, if you like what we are doing, or have enjoyed being able to read a book via our online reader for free, please consider adding a link to us on your blog or web site. You could always just tell a friend that we exist. Thank you! You can also help by volunteering to proofread new works to increase the total number of free books online.
